Cleveland has won civic awards so I suppose it isn't all the bad–might even be a fine place to live; but it isn't Boston, Yew York or San Francisco for culture.

Wonderfully funny quote. My favorite comes from a young pitcher who was once called in to face a bases-loaded no man out ninth inning situation–with the batter on deck being Stan "The Man" Musial. the catcher flashed him a sign for a fastball, and he shook it off; then he did the same to signs for a curve ball and a sinker. The manager came out of the dugout and they all held a conference at the mound.
"Well," the manager demanded, "what do you want to throw this guy?"
The picther just looked t him and said, "Skipper–I don't want to throw him ANYTHING!"

    I PERSONALLY LOVE THESE:

This is how I define grace: you're on the main stage, and it looks like it has been rehearsed 100 times, everything goes so smoothly. That's where I get my confidence and success, from knowing that I have an edge because I know I'm prepared.

    ~Alex Rodriguez

Enjoy your sweat because hard work doesn't guarantee success, but without it you don't have a chance.

    ~Alex Rodriguez

After I hit a home run I had a habit of running the bases with my head down. I figured the pitcher already felt bad enough without me showing him up rounding the bases.

    ~Mickey Mantle

To play 18 years in Yankee Stadium is the best thing that could ever happen to a ballplayer.

    ~Mickey Mantle

We just want to win. That's the bottom line. I think a lot of times people may become content with one championship or a little bit of success, but we don't really reflect on what we've done in the past. We focus on the present.

    ~Derek Jeter

Yankee Stadium is my favorite stadium; I'm not going to lie to you. There's a certain feel you get in Yankee Stadium.

    ~Derek Jeter

A great ballplayer is a player who will take a chance.

    ~Branch Rickey

Only in baseball can a team player be a pure individualist first and a team player second, within the rules and spirit of the game.

    ~Branch Rickey

Trade a player a year too early rather than a year too late.

    ~Branch Rickey

There is no room in baseball for discrimination. It is our national pastime and a game for all.

    ~Lou Gehrig

In the beginning I used to make one terrible play a game. Then I got so I'd make one a week and finally I'd pull a bad one about once a month. Now, I'm trying to keep it down to one a season.

    ~Lou Gehrig

I want to be remembered as a ballplayer who gave all he had to give.

    ~Roberto Clemente

THOSE ARE JUST SOME BUT I HAVE MANY MORE!!

My favorite baseball quote of all time though comes from the movie "A League of Their Own"

I use this quote anytime I hear someone complain, regardless of whether or not it has anything to do with baseball.

"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring when everything else begins again and it blossoms in summer, filling the afternoons and evenings and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it. Rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memeory of sunshine and high skies alive and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it the most, it stops."
